Title: GA-Z68XP-UD3P SATA 3 not working??
Post by: TheSnuke on December 01, 2011, 07:06:23 am
I just got this board in along with a few other goodies and I have got it up and running but I have a issue with my ssd (Vertex 3 120GB) I'm not getting anywhere near the speed I should be with this ssd on sata 3. Max write was 246mb/s and read got to 380mb/s tested with ATTO. This ssd is supposed to get 500 write 550 read. When I check it with HD Tune it shows its using Sata 2 and not 3, so I have moved it to every sata 3 port and tested and it is still the same. I am also using a sata 3 rated cable that came with the board and running in AHCI. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?? Thanks!

Hi

I am sorry as I cannot offer any solution at the moment but you seem to have done everything that I would normally suggest.  Have you made sure that you have loaded the latest firmware on the SSD first ?

The Intel controlled ports are still the fastest ports for your drive.

Well I just realized I hadn't run ATTO with it plugged into the Intel slots, so I put it in sata3 0 and just ran ATTO and I got 430 write and 550 read and I installed Intel RST and it shows its running at 6 gb/s so I guess hdtune was just reading it wrong and giving me bad speeds. I appreciate the quick response and I think this is fixed. You can close this thread. Thanks!

That's great news anyway and a nice easy fix too. Have fun.  ;)
