Computer does not post and i get 3 beeps then a pause and another 3 beeps this cycle continues until i disconnect the power supply the fans all run when i turn power on.
the m/board was sent back for repair but the shop told me it was replaced but i got back my original board which i know for fact. and i have cross referenced m/board serial numbers and it is my original
so now i dont know if its still the board or another issue?
problem only occured when i went to fit new cpu cooler & the amd heatsink glued itself to the cpu and pulled the cpu out of the socket without the release lever being lifted.
system specs : Phenom II 1100T, GA-990FXA-UD3, Coolermaster GX750w, corsair vengance 1600 mhz 2x4 gb, gigabyte 6950 1gb, ocz vertex 3 ssd
WD caviar blue 500gb Hdd, liteon DVD drive, Win 7 pro 64

Hi
As you have now noticed the heatsinks often attach themselves quite securely by the TIM to the processors. It isn't the best way to remove them by pulling. What tends toi happen is just as in your case and the whole CPU pulls out of the socket. It is much better to use a gentle twisting action which will normally release the two parts without damage. There is no standard 3 beeps for a BIOS POST error code but it could be the graphics card looseor something along those lines. I would suggest checking that and the memory and anything else that might have come loose as you removed the processor.

Hi Dark, thanks for the reply, i have tried removing everything and refitting everything carefully one at at time, as i cant rule out the M/board i believe the problem is either board or cpu

Update: spoke to supplier and they have informed me that motherboard under test does post, so now i will send them back m/board & my cpu and fan for further testing.
As i and they suspect the cpu may be at fault as they have seen 3 instances of this with my board before.
once i get a result i will update this post accordingly for future reference.
P.S. Dark i queried with them the possibility of the graphics card and they said it would not cause a no posting issue, keep you all posted chat soon :)

Hi Sol1960,
Have you inspected the pins on your CPU as they might have become damaged when you took your CPU cooler off.

Hi Teknology9. thanks for the suggestion, yes i have inspected cpu pins (with magnifying glass) and they are all straight. i also made sure cpu fitted into socket properly and it does. so ill wait for test to come back.

Hi Sol1960,
It could be either graphics card or memory. You could check to see if the GPU is seated properly...or if you have a known "good" gpu then you could use that to test it. Or if it is memory related use memtest:
http://www.memtest.org/
Scroll down when you are the site to find what is stated below and put it onto a pendrive.
Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 9x/2k/xp/7)
Put one stick of RAM in slot 1 and allow 10 passes/cycles
But as you have stated wait and see what the outcome is once the testing is completed

I don't think they know what they are talking about in as much as it would certainly give a POST code if there was a problem with it or it wasn't inserted.

Hi, Dark
the reason i dont think its the GPU is because it was removed before the commencement of the cooler upgrade so if the GPU has failed i dont know what caused it to fail as it was working fine up until that moment?

Hi Sol,
If it is not the CPU or GPU then I would have to concur with absics comment....that being the MB.

Hi to all, as a follow up to the problem i have been informed M/board was cause of the problem.
also i have found out with further testing from the computer shop my 1100T has some issues also. so all in all a big learning curve for me and many thanks to all the moderators who help us newbies with the solutions to our problems......THANKS :)
Kindest Regards,

You are welcome Sol
It made everything more difficult to pin down because of there being more than one faulty component. Still at least you are sorted out now and have a Happy Christmas. ;)
