Title: Gigabyte Z68 HDMI to DVI port hookup for HD?
Post by: captkirk on December 10, 2011, 03:26:12 pm
If i plug a DVI to HDMI cable into the HDMI port in my Gigabyte Z68 mobo, then into the DVI port on my monitor, will this make my PC HD? Also, right now i have a DVI connected directly into my 8800GT from monitor, if this HDMI connection works converting my PC to HD, what happens to my 8800GT card? Does it become obsolete or can i switch configurations back and forth if i leave both hookups connected to my monitor?

Hi and welcome.

I take it that you are referring to the onboard video port. It will give the opportunity to run at up to HD resolutions as long as the content and monitor also support it. You can use both GPUs if you have them both connected up.
