I'm running an FX-8150 on this board with the FEc BIOS. Is there going to be another BIOS revision for this board to fix the Steam issues? The AMD page links to a different board.

Didnt know the bios messed with steam. I have that board different rev. and no problems and a friend of mine runs that same rev. and board and we play all the time on steam are you sure it is the bios doing it?

The 3.1 revision is the black socket board that supports AM3+.
AMD has acknowledged the issue and has a support page for it (http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/STEAMGamesonAMDFXplatforms.aspx).
I bought this board specifically to be ready for Bulldozer, so I'm hoping that Gigabyte is going to continue support for it. Other 900-series chipset boards are getting beta BIOSes, but the FEc BIOS for this board is about a month behind the "recommended" BIOS on the AMD page. @BIOS doesn't even have FEc, it tries to get me to install the even older FD which I'm guessing does *not* support Bulldozer.
The ONLY Bulldozer-enabled BIOS for this board right now appears to be FEc, which exhibits the bug. I REALLY don't want to have to buy a new board over this, considering how much I paid for THIS board earlier this year. Please, Gigabyte, don't tell me FEc is the last BIOS it's going to get...

The link isnt working properly. The correct link is: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/STEAMGamesonAMDFXplatforms.aspx

Any response on this from Gigabyte?

Must not be on all configurations. I assume that makes it harder to nail down a proper fix. As randy's computer isnt affected with that motherboard, Id say thats what makes it harder to fix id contact gigabyte support with all specs and see what they say. Sometimes it takes a day or two for them to email you back.

They sent me the FEd BIOS, which DOES INCLUDE THE FIX.
After that was squared away and I confirmed that the Steam crashes were no longer happening, I tried some RAM that I thought was unstable before and it worked flawlessly (now I don't have to return my new RAM...). So not only does it fix the Steam bug, it improved RAM stability. Hopefully they'll put FEd up on the download page soon, for anyone else that needs it.

So wait... they sent you a bios that has the fix in it yet they have not put up on their site yet?
Can you please share this bios with all of us? This steam problem is killing me!
BTW 990fxa here... Serious Sam 3 and Total War Shogun 2 will not start and bluescreen.

What BIOS are you running and what's the full model name and revision of your board? It looks like all of the 990FXA-UDX boards have patched BIOSes, F6 or higher.
If the latest one for your board doesn't work (or F6, as AMD recommends), you should do a support ticket. Just do what I did and say you have X board, revision Y, with Z BIOS, and you're having the Steam crash (add a link to the AMD issue page that describes it so they know it's a specific issue). Tell them what CPU you're using. Ask if they're going to issue a patched BIOS for your board. Don't be discouraged if their first response is kind of Engrish and not really helpful, just make it clear that you're looking for a patched BIOS.
The BIOS they sent me is specific to the 890fxa-ud5, and I'm assuming specifically the 3.1 revision of the board. I don't think you'd want to flash that... Besides, I think the 9 series BIOSes are numbered differently.
I would assume that they're either working on something or they can send you a patched one. The 990fx boards should have as much or more support than the old 8-series boards.
I've since played some Shogun and finished Deus Ex HR, so 890fx FEd is definitely pretty stable. I'm not sure why they haven't added it to the board's download page, unless it's still going through testing.
