Title: Monitor CPU temps and control fan speed
Post by: imk123 on December 28, 2011, 12:12:41 am
Hello,
I just built my P67A-UD5-B3, i7 2600K, 8GB of corsair
and booted up win7 pro 1st time as expected....

So I have a couple of DFI LP boards and they have the nice Smart Guardian util that allows you to monitor temps and set CPU fan startup speed etc.
Is there a similat util for this GB board please?
Many thanks imk

Not sure about changing fan speed but CoreTemp (Link here: http://dl.installiq.com/download/downloadpop.aspx?shortname=coretemp&a=13307&f=CoreTemp) lets you monitor cpu temps :)

If you have an nVidia gfx card you can download a utility callled nVidia System Monitor to check temps of GPU/RAM etc..

Hi MiiCK and imk123,

Try Hardware Monitor Pro
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor-pro.html

Do not installed Easy Tune from Gigabyte.

Hello Gloup_Gloup and many thanks for your reply.

What I am trying to do is really simply...I think...
I have built a new PC based on a P67A-UD5, i7 2600k etc and have used a Zalman 9900 cpu cooler...
I have two fan in my case (one front other rear) that push/pull air across the Zalman cpu cooler...
So basically there is enough case air flow to cool the cpu when idle.  So what I would like is the CPU (zalman) fan stopped and then only kick in when CPU load increses... Now this I have working fine on a couple of DFi LP rigs that use SmartGuardian...

So question is how to do it on this GB board.
Many thanks imk
