Title: bios problems on GA-990XA-UD3
Post by: chookied on December 28, 2011, 08:05:37 am
I have bought a barebones bundle from Novatech comprising above mb Bulldozer 8150 with 4gb 1333 ram. Put in own hard drive and  graphics card and successfully installed server 2008R2. Switched off machine and when powered on again no bios post or anything except a white banner at the bottom saying del to enter setup F12 for boot menu. Tried pressing these on keyboard but nothing happens but when pressing ctrl-alt-del it resets showing keyboard input is working pleasehelp. tried clearing cmos no change cant get backup bios to kick in either  :'(

User manual lists compatible operating systems on GA-990XA-UD3 as Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

Workstation and server motherboards would likely be compatible with server 2008R2. You may want to check out HP ProLiant Server Series for ideas.

Hi

I would agree with Tiger and feel that is most likely the problem. The easiest way to confirm it is to try booting from a Linux Live CD and see if that works.

Also try connecting a PS2 keyboard prior to powering on and see if you have more luck with that over the USB version.
