Title: M6980 Gaming mouse
Post by: kaylaneedsyourhelp on December 28, 2011, 05:41:07 pm
Hi all,

I purchased a M6980 Gaming mouse today & have insalled the CD that came with it, which installed a Macroing program (windows is still
detecting it as a HID-Compliant Mouse not sure if thats normal) & the main problem is i cant seem to bind the side keys in world of warcraft,
trying to keybind with them it simply doesnt do anything, is there anything im missing or should do to get it them to be bindable?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

iv gone over the manual a few times, it all only relates to the macroing software that came with the CD, i can change the buttons to perform specific functions in windows example: back a folder, open calculator, double click ect ect but in games they dont function & are unbindinable

I think you will find that you need your extra buttons in Windows Button 4 and Windows Button 5 modes before you can use those for other applications like WOW. I have to do this for my Razer DeathAdder.

Of course, if your mouse use "profiles" to turn up sensitivity etc then change it on that profile, rather than your "default windows" one ;)

EDIT:

Having read the first page of the manual, you will need these set as forward and back. Then the game might "pick it up"

Thanks for the reply, could you tell me where to do this? there is none in that macro program that is installed, those buttons are by defualt "Browse Backwards" & "Browse Forwards"

Edit: there is a list for functions in the macro program what i can change the mouse buttons to do but none seem relevent for binding in world of warcraft

I can only guide you with what I have; the manual should really have this covered.

Anyway , here's what I have to do for one of my games:

Make sure that mouse buttons 4 & 5 are "windows default"

Now in the game (here I have used Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare), go to your controls and then set mouse button 4 (and mouse button 5) as something (normally this is done by pressing a button you want to do something - in my case when I press mouse button 4 I throw a frag grenade)

As I dont have either of the products you are using it is hard for me to know what you have, and thers not a lot I can try to help you with if I dont see what you are seeing.

Thanks again for the reply, i wish the software with this mouse was as easy as that one you just showed, i took screenshots which ill add to here. the list of Basic Functions there is no "Defualt Windows button" or anything similar unfortunately.

Wait, I get it; its based on "drag and drop"

Ok, on the left side of the screen you have all these "commands" - ie where it says "left click, right click, middle click" etc. What I want to see it the contents of that list. Now obviously this means a lot of screenshots so you might want to sign up to somewhere like photobucket.com (which is a picture sharing site) or somewhere like that first. Then when you have all the contents of the list, paste the direct links to the pictures in this topic. So for the next screenshot, I would show calculator at the top then take a screenshot, paste that into paint, close paint (saving the file) then repeat for whatever was left at the bottom. Just in case you dont know; you can use the printscreen button (labelled prnt scrn or something along those lines on certain keyboards) to "capture" (or take a screenshot) your screen.

Silly Gigabyte for not showing all the options in the manual.

ok that sounds pretty complicated (not very tech friendly yet :P ) so i ill type them out if thats okay?

-Left Click
-Right Click
-Middle Click
-Browser Forward
-Browser Backwards
-Calculator
-Left Scroll
-Right Scroll
-Forward Scroll
-Backward Scroll
-Double Click
-Delete
-Restore (Ctrl+Z)
-Cut (Ctrl+x)
-Copy (Ctrl+C)
-Paste (Ctrl+V)
-Add New (Ctrl+N)
-Close (Ctrl+W
-Open (Ctrll+O)
-Minimize
-Maximize
-Zoom In
-Zoom Out
-Close Program
-Volume Up
-Volume Down
-Mute
-Shift
-Ctrl
-Alt
-Enter
-Magnify
-Desktop
-Internet Explorer
-Favourites
-2x Speed
-4x Speed
-8x Speed
-Vertical moving only
-Horizontal moving only
-Ghost (has a picture of a robot there, doesnt do anything that i can see when "used" in the key)

Ahh ok i used that "robot" on both buttons & tried to keybind, the one key now is keybinding as "ALT-Ctrl-K" in wow keybindings & is now working for the one button, other one not tho!.. progress

i suppose if i can find the macro for the "Robot" key function i can change it slightly to the original so it can
be used on the other button

So "ghost" must be active for "make your own one in gaming" then. Anyway sounds like youre halfway there :D

Ahh brilliant i got it. For the Macro you simply set the macro to a key & bind that key in wow & in the macro editor set the key to the button.. !  Thanks alot for all your help! much love <3

So I ve bought this mouse yesterday and I have two problems.

First:  mouse cant remember led lights settings... I tried them turned off, but after restart they light up in default colors (red, blue, green), even if I switch to differents colors, yelow, pink... they keep reseting to default colors after every restart. How to make this setting permanently?

Second: mouse is flashing (blue) while is computer turned off. It is extremly annoying at night...
