Title: Xeon UP and ECC UDIMM @ X58
Post by: aasa0001 on November 04, 2009, 12:51:37 pm
Hi,
Does EX58-XXX support ECC UDIMM with Xeon 35XX? And can ECC be disabled via BIOS?

I am interested because I'd like to overclock Bloomfield UP with ECC UDIMM.
Thanks for the help.

Hi

EX58-xxx can support Xeon35xx, for example EX58-UD5, see below:
http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2958#anchor_os

X58 supports ECC modules (with Xeon CPU, it should be UDIMM DDR3) but we haven't done validation for any specific ECC module, that's why you will not find it in QVL (http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/FileList/MemorySupport/motherboard_memory_ga-ex58-ud5.pdf) for instance
