Title: Council on changing the ram GA-X58A-UD7
Post by: Gorhan on January 24, 2012, 06:09:02 pm: I have to replace the triple chan RAM on my PC as the one I have now is broken. The consequences of my choices currently are:
Patriot PVS32G2000LLKN
Corsair CMX6GX3M3A2000C9

What would you recommend?
I have a Noctua NH-D14 heatsink so the space is limited. I also accept other suggestions on ram

Ive had the Mushkin Silverline and the Blackline ..... both have performed flawlessly even at the maximum populations in my X58 ..... they also represent astounding value for money when there on special constantly.

I've had Corsair XMS2, Dominator sticks fail a few times over 4 years and never ran at advertised (at a premium price) speeds where the Crucials would but Crucials would fail about every six months.

I've never used Patriot.

And...they run/are rated at 1.5v, none of that 1.65v stuff.

I don't know why they are priced so well (or is it everyone else is priced lousy?). If I hadn't used them in the past (PC133 @ 166 was awesome), I would have been skeptical. I know when I bought mine, they were hard to find (had to go to two different sellers).

Post by: Dark Mantis on January 25, 2012, 04:13:47 pm: I normally use Corsair as I find them second to none but the Patriot and Mushkin are also both excellent brands of RAM. As long as you purchase whatever you decide on as a matched kit you should be alright and make sure that you check the manufacturer's QVL.
