Title: A quick question about cpu compatibility
Post by: ultma on January 28, 2012, 07:10:40 am
the Mother board is

GA-MA78G-DS3H rev 1.0

http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=2800

now the gigabyte site says nothing above TDP of 95w pretty much

http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Gigabyte/GA-MA78G-DS3H(rev._1.0).html

This website says it can support a few more some 125w TDP models, who do I trust since the mobo is quite old gigabyte might not of updated its list since rev 2.0

does any one know for sure if it supports a 955 125 watt or a 1090T 125watt with the F9E BIOS if not is ther another Beta BIOS that might allow support for these 125w cpu's

Thank you

Hi there,

When it comes to CPU compatibility I always use the Gigabyte list for a particular motherboard. The board might be able to take a 125W CPU, as your second link would suggest but, the only way of knowing for sure if it is safe to do this, would be to contact Gigabyte Technical Support and ask them.

Just to back up what absic has said it is the best idea to make double sure. GGTS is available here:

Just enter your email address and click on the language of choice.
