Title: Intel MEI Drivers
Post by: Oubadah on February 06, 2012, 11:27:20 am
I notice these on the Gigabyte website for newer boards, and on the Intel website, but I'm never sure which to use. Sounds like 'Management Engine" is some kind of remote access thing (that I would never want to use), and someone once told me you could "turn it off" - is there any way to disable the functionality so that you don't have to install the drivers?

Use the latest, you can get it here if you don't want to decide between Intel's download and Gigabyte's :D

You do not have to install the drivers, but they are needed for many utilities on newer boards P67 onwards, and they can also affect stability if not installed, so it's best to install them.
