Hi guys my computer boots into post beeps 8 times then restarts. Can't find any info on this problem anywhere. Please help.
Thx
Andy
I was kinda hoping for some sort of standardization here but.... Ga -g41m-es2l motherboard with 2048mb DDR 2. 2.8ghz processor intel with award bios. Power on beeps 8 times successively then restarts. Repeat cycle. Seems like second per beep. Not sure if that's considered fast. Anything missin.. I get by with CPU knowledge. Removed everything but the ram. Same prob

Hmm didn't quite understand what you said.
When you press the ON button it beeps 8 times, really fast? then reboots? Or it boots, beeps once, reboots, beeps once.. continuously?
Load of things you can try mate. Need more info from you...
Full system specs? Mobo, cpu, gpu, ram etc. Try booting with one stick of ram in slot 1/2, switch the ram around but only have 1 stick in for boot.
Is this a new build? Has it worked previously? Have you installed any new hard/software? Have you put thermal paste on the cpu? (5mm drop)
Basically just give us a lot of detail about your system, your knowledge of pc's, how this has happened, try removing everything not needed for boot, eg hdd, gpu etc. You should be able to get into bios, load optimized defaults if you can.
Post back with more info...

It could be an endless beep code being interrupted by a re-boot cycle (memory error) that is if it's an Award Bios .......
Saying ...

Just don't cut it .....Even I know there's at least 5 different types of computers ;) .... as Miick said ....even a little more information would be great.

First suspect: memory
- Ensure the sticks are seated correctly
- Test with one stick at a time (if you have more than one)
- If no progress, power on with no memory installed to see if you get the same beeps
Second choice: video
- Check seating
- Try with no video; do you get the same beeps?

Are they long or short beeps, high pitched or low, all the same? Record and post here if you are not sure and don't make an progress on this.
Please also be sure your CPU is installed properly, and that the heatsink is fully and properly installed. Is this a new build, or an issue that just started happening? If new, try clearing the CMOS via jumper, with the battery pulled out and power supply disconnected from the board.
Many multiple fast beeps can often be tRD memory setting too low, try using a single stick and see if you can get into the BIOS. If you can, then set tRD to 9-10 until you get things going, then you can adjust lower later. If you cannot get into the BIOS, you'll need to try another set of memory as it's possible the memory is faulty or incompatible.

Hi
It sounds like a memory fault to me most likely. Try removing everything from the motherboard apart from the CPU, HSF, buzzer and PSU. Now try and boot and see what beep code you get withoput any memory sticks.
Yopu can then try a single stick in the first slot and see if that works.
Post back afterwards with more details please.
