Hi, more questions ;D
I haven't been able to get ET6 to work correctly, in that it will only show one system fan when there are 2. According to Gigabyte Support, who have been helpful, I should be able to see both fans in ET6. They showed me a sreen clip of ET6 with the CPU, PSU and 2 SYS fans being monitored. I can see both fans operating correctly in BIOS health.
They have asked me to update the BIOS. I'm a bit concerned about updating the BIOS and risking knackering my system for the sake of running ET6. The MoBo shipped with F4 which will run all but 1 Phenom and none of the Bulldozers. Can't see myself laying out for a Bulldozer.
Whats your thoughts ?

Hi Scuttle ..... sorry for the late reply ...... been busy, busy, busy
Update the BIOS by all means ..... it can't hurt and can only fix the problem, increase compatability and possibly increase performance and stability slightly ...... see if this fixes the problem ..... you may even have to un-install....and re-install ET6 ofter the Bios update ...... remember to tick "Clear DMI Data pool" ;)

Hi
EasyTune 6 does require the latest BIOS file to be loaded in order to work properly. So go ahead and update it but make sure that you use QFlash not @BIOS and disable the Keep DMI Data on the homepage as you are doing it.

Hi
Sorry about the late response. My sole USB stick had been accidentally formatted so I had to find some free software to recover the files first.
I updated this morning with no problems, now on F5f. Was all a bit nerve wracking but very straight forward.
ET6 now shows both the system fans - problem solved. It now shows 2 system temps running at 32deg.C and 21deg.C, would they be the north and south bridges? If so, which one is which?
Many thanks
-
Probably not, more likely the northbridge and the mainboard.

Thanks

northbridge is 99% of the time the hotter one....lol Used to use DFI and the northbridge always ran 45c to 60c which to me was way to hot.

I asked Gigabyte who said
System fan temperatures are being read from I/O chip as regular rule on GBT motherboards.
Looks like I got the right answer to the wrong question. They've been very helpful so I haven't hassled them again. Anyway, you guys are telling me that my temps are nice and low so that's good enough for me.
Then again, maybe I'll just add a nice FD-FAN-140 on the side panel...................
