Title: USB3 Port Not Working
Post by: kjcmjc on February 15, 2012, 02:12:04 am
I have the GA970A-UD3 board with latest drivers and latest bios. Win 7 X64. When I hook up my BlacX Duet 5 G to one of the rear USB 3 ports it will transfer to or from and about half way the BlacX drops off from Windows. Windows does not crash just the BlacX. I have to then turn off the BlacX and restart it so Windows will redetect the drive. On a hunch I  plugged the BlacX into the other rear USB 3 port with the supplied USB 3 cord and the drive transfers great. I updated the Etron drivers to v105 and v 109 and still the same problem on the one port. It looks like one of the ports is messed up. The motherboard was purchased a few weeks ago.

What is a decent USB 3 card that can be plugged into the front USB 3 header? Thanks

Hi and welcome.

I am not quite sure what you are after here ...maybe a USB3.0 hub ?

It might well be that your troubles with the rear USB3.0 port are due to the cable or more accurately the plug. It sounds as if the USB3.0 ports are working as they are both driven by the same controller. Usually in thius sort of case it is due to one port not making as good a contact as the other with the cable. I woulsd suggest making sure that the plug inserts correctly and fully into the port.
