Title: PCI-E Raid Card for 4x OCZ-90GB Agility 3s for Raid0
Post by: Aussie Allan on February 16, 2012, 02:14:51 pm

Quite a mine field out there re PCI-E Raid cards ....... Looking for some recommendations to narrow down the search for a card to attach 4 x 90GB OCZ Agility 3s to run in Raid0 for an OS drive with a few Programs only.

Have a Rocket Raid 640 but I think the potential bandwidth of 4 SSDs will exceed this older card ......Yes I know I can throw money at the problem but that would be defeating the cost savings of the drives while on special ...... I'm after a fair balance ;)

You are correct, RR 640 cannot handle more than 2 drives in RAID, and if those two drives aren't split across the two controllers then even 2 drives can bog it out.

Hope you find something interesting!   I'll be keeping an eye on this thread in case you do, I know many are interested!  The storage section of XS forum may help you find what you are looking for, but it's down right now for updates so I can't link

D'oh, I meant RAID cards. When I posted that I came off an 18-hour shift. Sorry for the confusion!  ;)

I'll keep the post updated RealTime ...... I use to call it 18hr mush-mush .... know the feeling all to well..... kids have the same effect  ;)

I expected a light response to be honest ....... I've pulled about 15 card reviews of the net, (DOCs) just need some time to sit and read .

Thanks Pierre ........ "RAID 0 in ATTO does 1250MB/s write and 1850MB/s read (burst as high as 2500MB/s)' not to shabby for 4x60GB SSDs

And all for a $100 US card too ...... the battery and heatsink issues worries me a tad though ...... wonder if you can get a bigger Battery unit?

But thanks .....another one to add to the short list for comparisons ..... so far this has been the cheapest for the performance level by far!

P.S .... Good to see you still monitor Pierre, good to catch up ;)

Hello friend Aussie Allan

Next week i receive 2 * IBM M5014 for test !!

found  very low price :  48.90 Euros each ( 65$ ) + 7.90 for postage (10$ )

I think performances are not many different as M5015 for old mechanical disks !!

Pierre

I have found low price cables with Leds Activity !!
