Title: GA-X58A-OC Raid 0 very slow
Post by: bortoletto on February 26, 2012, 01:18:26 pm
hi,

I have two Corsair Force Gt in Raid 0, who are very slow.
I use a GA-X58A-OC with marvell 88SE9182. The driver I use
is marvell_91xx_1.2.0.1016, and is connected to the SATA 6GB
with the right cables.

I read somewhere that may be the marvell firmware is old.
but I think it can only be upgraded with the BIOS and my
BIOS is already the last.

below the test with ATTO.

thanks

What BIOS are you using?  Update to the latest BIOS, and set Force firmware option in the BIOS in the Marvell options and then save/apply/reboot back to the BIOS and set your other SATA settings again before loading windows.

And actually I just enlarged your image, those results are very good! What are you complaining about in particular?

This is what results I got a long time ago for my review of the X58-OC board, slower than you are getting

Review is here if you want to see other results and comparison with UD7

I'm using the F5D. I've tried to do everything to improve the speed.

I expected results as the z68 and x79, between 1000 and 1100. but it seems that this is the limit of Marvell.

the tests that you did, showed that this really is the limit of this motherboard.

thanks for the reply.

Ahh ok, I see now!  Ya, you wont get anything like Z68 or X79 as those are Native Intel ports, but at least the OC board's Marvell controller is MUCH better than the older Marvell controllers used on many other first gen SATA 6Gb/s boards.
