Title: GA-E350N-USB3 PCIx4 Bug
Post by: Unlife on March 01, 2012, 04:39:06 pm
Hi!
I am using E350N_USB3 and found some problem with compatibility.
Then I plug TV tuner (Compro M600, PCIx1) motherboard just dont start, only black screen. After what I flash new BIOS (version F2) and try again, but in this time motherboard just freeze on POST screen, showing CPU model and frequency.
This tuner is worked fine on another computer and I tested it twice, this motherboard is work fine too.

I tried to change some BIOS parameters like VGA first on Onboard/PCI Express but this takes no affect.

I found some similar problems :

I wait for new BIOS what will solve this problem, but still only F2 available.
So question is - then this bug will be fixed on futher firmware?

Was about 9 months apart on those 2 bios so if another comes out at the same duration it would be june sometime. Your best bet is to contact gigabyte support directly to recive a acurate answer.

The tuner in you second link, TeVii S470 DVB-S2 PCIe, requires a VGA card with at least 128MB memory. This wouldn't be possible on a motherboard without any additional  pci express slots.

I don't have any information on the TV tuner (Compro M600, PCIx1).

Yes, there is mistake in model of tuner, Compro E600 is correct
I already asked gigabyte support, but they didnt give a clear answer about "will this problem solved in future"

So it seems like this motherboard dont switch down  the PCI Express slot to x1 speed or just some problems with IRQ

According to the TV tuner manufacturer, the most common reason for why your PC won't start is that the required power patch cable is not connected at all or you connected the ATX power switch cable to the wrong pins on the motherboard.

Problem not in power cable, I checked it many times.
On my  another motherboard (GA-Z68-XP-UD3) this tuner work fine, even with power cable not connected (power button connected to mobo) , so problem is competely on mobo.

Hi

I can only suggest contacting GGTS for help and see what they have to say.

GGTS

Please expect several days for a reply.

I contacted GGTS several times and they send me a few beta version on BIOS (F2b), but this not helped.
I`ve tried two or three beta versions, after that GGTS asked a full tuner model and after that - only silence.
It seems like this mobo has hardware problems, that can be fixed only with new revision...maybe.
Or maybe adding in BIOS option (like on Asus mobos) - force  PCIx1 mode on PCIx slot can help tuner work properly.
Anyway - tuner still covered by dust in box and problem not solved.
