Title: Z68X-UD3H-B3 (Rev 1.3) high pitched whine
Post by: mw1 on March 12, 2012, 07:33:53 pm
I put together a new system a couple of days ago and the motherboard  is making a very high frequency oscillating whine which seems to be coming from one or more of the chokes surrounding the CPU. I can also hear this noise when my headphones are plugged in and will only stop if I disable CPU idle state through Windows 7, which isn't really a long term solution.

Has anyone else got this board and having this problem? I've read of older boards having this issue but haven't seen any recent posts reporting the problem. I'm going to RMA it but to save waiting for a replacement was going to just buy the same board again, unless this is an inherent issue on this board?

I'd appreciate any help.

Disable C1E and EIST in the BIOS in the advanced CPU settings, C3/C6 may also need disabled.

Had to post to this old reply to say Thank You!! That whine was driving me nuts and your suggestion solved it!
