Title: GA-990FXA-UD5 and internal memory card reader issue
Post by: bryantguy on March 18, 2012, 08:59:54 pm
GA990FXA-UD5, F6 bios, 16GB mem, Phenom II  x6 1100T, Win 7 Home 64 bit
When I boot up, and insert a memory card, it is not recognised.  I go to "computer" and can see the drive (j:), but when I try to open it-it says "insert a disk and try again".  When I go to "safely remove hardware", it says "disk is in use". I select "continue" to close it and thereafter the reader works as it should.
At the next boot, the problem starts over. Very frustrating.
I have tried 2 different internal readers and 1 external reader with the same issue.  All worked fine with prior motherboard.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Go to device manager and see if there are any errors then if not you can uninstall it thru device manager then restart and it should reinstall automatically.

Only time i had that kind of problem is when i left it hooked up while i installed windows the way i fixed it was to leave it unplugged and did a fresh install then after windows was installed and updated i plugged it in and it has worked ever since.

Thanks for the reply. No errors. Tried disable, reboot, enable-same issue. I'm not reinstalling win. Acts like a plug in device after safe removal(must reattach to recognise).
I guess I can live with it. It works fine once it's "awake".
