Title: hd 7970 and hd 4870 in one comp, not for SLI but for 3rd monitor
Post by: mirkoj on April 02, 2012, 05:02:30 pm
As I'm still waiting for mini display port to DVi active adapters to arive (damn gigabyte you could supply at least one with 7970 OC windforce card)
I'm wondering if adding second card, older HD 4870 would work and server for 3rd monitor till adapter arrive?
That worked with my old gtx580 in one slot and gtx440 before.. should work fine with these two different ati cards as well right?
I've got thermal take toughpower 875W PSU so it should have enough juice

What do you guy think that would work fine?

Hi

In theory it should work alright as long as you are not expecting Crossfire. Just as a way of getting an extra monitor should be ok I reckon.
