Title: GA-H61M-DS2 feature or headache (corrected model)
Post by: dsatya on April 07, 2012, 01:21:34 pm

Recent owner of this fine board. Using it with Celeron G520 and 2x4GB Corsair and Gigabyte 6450 w/512MB ram.
Can only boot on HDMI from windows 7 partition.

CANNOT access these when external video card is plugged in
(1) BIOS
(2) Boot Menu

Cannot access even if I plug an external monitor to the onboard video monitor port.

I physically have to remove the external video card and then I can access them via standard video port moniotor.

Am I missing somthing or this a "feature"...

Updated to the latest bios F7.

Hi

Maybe you could list a few more items on your system list please.

Have you got a PS2 or a USB keyboard ?

Have you got Optimised BIOS Defaults loaded ?

Celeron G520
GA-H61M-DS2 Motherboard Rev 2.0
60GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
Logitech Keyboard and Mouse USB wired
2 4GB 1600 Corsair RAM
Gigabyte 6450 512MB PCIe 2.1 Video Card
Win 7 64 Ultimate
275 Watt PowerSupply in a Mini Case
Standard Dell Monitor or Samsung LCD TV with HDMI

Nothing else ...
Using the Standard BIOS defaults (Version F7) I think it Came with F3

Not sure what you mean by Optimized BIOS defaults... how would I get to that state ?

-- One other thing ... Memtest v4.0 does not recognize the CPU or RAM correctly. it says i7 and shows 0's for the RAM settings ... I will upgrade to the latest memtest and reverify that this weekend.

thx

Hi

I would suggest getting a PS2 keyboard if at all possible for BIOS work and that type of thing as it does make everything much more straightforward.

Until then you need to load Optimised BIOS Defaults from within the BIOS itself and then save and exit (F10).

Next again inside the BIOS you need to enable Legacy USB Support so that your USB drivers are loaded before Windows has the chance to.

Your PSU is far too small and is probably giving you issues. The recommended PSU size is 500W.

I am using a PS2 kbd now.Still have the same issue. I loaded the optimized BIOS defaults. No change.

Here is the symptom (not any different from the previous sympyoms).

If using onboad video, can go to BIOS by using the <DEL> key.
if using gigabyte Radeon 6450 512MB card for hdmi, cannot get into BIOS.
when both vga and hdmi are coonected, I can press del key and it feels the compuer is enteing BIOS but noting iis displayed on either of the screens(tv,monitor) reboot when this occurs.

So, whenever I have the video card plugged in, I cannot access the BIOS and BIOS Setup.

Have you got the graphics card listed in the BIOS as the Primary Graphics output. Also make sure that you have it's location correct in the BIOS eg PCIEx16_1

Have you got Memtest86+ working now ?
