If you want to run an AM3+ processor you will need a new motherboard.  :'(

thanks for confirming. i brought one awhile back that was listed as a rev. 3.1 but only just took it out of the box & sadly they sent me a rev. 21 which is ashame, so iv had to order a GA-970A-UD3
