Title: GV-R687OC-1GD - Driver issues
Post by: JFC15 on April 23, 2012, 07:08:46 pm
I have the GV-R687OC-1GD and am having driver issues.  This is the message I'm getting...

Display driver stopped responding and has recovered
Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered

This issue has happened even when I'm just online.  I do have the latest drivers that I downloaded from the AMD website.  Should I just use the drivers on the Gigabyte website, even though they aren't the most current?  I've had this reoccuring issue ever since I bought the card... maybe once a week or so.  I haven't overclocked the card and have a good power supply (CORSAIR Professional Series HX1050 1050W) and good ram (G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB 4 x 4GB DDR3 2133).  I have run MemTest on the ram and it comes back without error.

I've read that it could be caused by overheating... so I'm going to keep an eye on that.  I have the In-Win Dragon Rider case, so there is plenty of airflow for the card... plus I'm not a gamer, so I'm not really stressing the card.  Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Hi

I would suggest trying a different set of drivers and see if that helps as often it is just software based.  As you say it can be caused by overheating but that sounds unlikely in your case. Try a new set of drivers and then see how it goes.
