Ok, I have lovely new 990FXA-UD7 all installed, all works wonderfully.... except I can only get it to run smooth or at all with half the ram, 8GB only, as soon as I try to put all 4 sticks in, BSOD when going into windows, or not long after, every time... I've run all sticks through memtest and all have passed after 5-6 hours each....
A bit of background... I have RMA'd a crossfire V Formula twice due to a faulty board, twice, would you believe, so I told ASUS to shove it and went for the UD7, not a single crash for a month solid, works like a dream, I also had to RMA my first pack of the corsair RAM, 2 of the 4 sticks were faulty, and got back a brand new sealed pack.... I know, huge waiting by the mail box missions.... my PC is now called Lucky13... 9 weeks I went without it, due to faulty components :( but all is well now and I am wondering if there is any trick to getting all 16 GB of RAM to run?

What ram timings are you running and also are you running it ganged or unganged. Also voltage it is running at. Post a link to the ram you bought so i can look at it also. Post this info and i or absic or dark mantis will help you get it sorted.
Welcome to the gigabyte forum i am sure you will be happy with your board. I had the same problems 5 years ago with asus and have only bought gigabyte since then and i am a happy camper.

from what you are saying I think I would be looking at the CPU as a possible cause of the issues, especially if it is the same one as you used on the Asus boards. The reason for this line of thinking? The memory controller is part of the processor and not part of the motherboard and it seems strange that you have had issues with two makes of boards and different RAM modules. :o
That said, when you try installing all 4 sticks of RAM, are you testing with default speed settings of 1333MHz at 1.5V?
If yes, and they work at that speed OK then the problem will probably be due to your settings in BIOS.

I would advise you to check your settings for Maxmem and make sure that it isn't set to 8GB. You can find it here :
Start/run/msconfig/boot/advanced options/maximum memory
Also make sure that you have increased you memory voltage to compensate for the extra load of running with all slots filled.

Everything is set to optimized default settings... it all works apart from the ram... so I haven't messed with any settings, although I wouldn't reallyknow what I was doing anyway.....
So now after testing all the slots, I've got 3 sticks in stable now at 12gigs... which makes me think faulty stick again.... all sticks have passed mem test but every time I try to put the last one in... BSOD.... so I'll run this last stick through memtest again over night and let you guys know if it passed...

Oh and yeah, I purchased all the components at the same time, and sent the ASUS board back twice... oh, GPU's are older too....
But yeah I'll get back when memtest has run overnight....

Ok so before I started playing with my mem sticks again, I went to see the settings in bios so I could report back.... noticed the timings under 'auto' we're different to what the Memory on its specs page says it runs at.... auto was set to 1300-10 10 10 29-1.5 being that the mems specs page says it does 1600-9 9 9 24 - 1.5 I changed to manual and changed the settings to those... put the other stick in, so all 4 ram sticks are in, and now its running....??? with all 4... although... when right clicking properties on my computer it tells me I have 14.0 GB (12 GB Useable).... Does that sound right???? ???

Something is off there. Mine says 16gig as a 64 bit system should. I also use a 2 gig video card so it cant be that either. Use cpuid which is a free download and see if your ram is in ganged or unganged more for AMD base chips memory will work alot better creating a faster system if it is un-ganged.
As to why it says 14 gig i have no idea and doubt that ganged or unganged will change that.
Also take the stick you think is faulty and run it in slot 3 as you know it works and dont put in the one you took out. See what capaticty it states then. If the stick you think is faulty runs fine in slot 3 and no crashes rules out the ram module.
