Title: CPU for GA-M720 US3 Rev 1.0

Hi can anyone help me.

I have a GA-m720 US3 Rev 1.0 motherboard, brand new but no processor.

I was going to buy AMD Phenom 1100T 6 core processor, but these processors are discontinued.

Does any one know if AMD fx 6100 AM3+ 6 core will fit this motherboard.

Please Help :'(

Hi there,

sadly the AM3+ CPU's will not work in this motherboard.  :'(

I have look at the CPU compatiblitylist for this board. Is there a CPU you can recommend i can still buy for gaming purposes that will fit the GA-M720 US3?

Here are two that will work OK:

You might be able to find others that will also be OK but it is getting harder to find such CPU's and you also might find either of these cheaper at another supplier.

A note of caution, make sure you update your BIOS before installing one of these CPU's as you will need the last F7N which you can download from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3006&dl=1#bios if you are not already running it. If you do need to update your BIOS then I would recommend that you use the QFlash utility and if you are not sure of how to flash BIOS check the FAQ here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.0.html

Hi

thank you very much for your help.

I have just ordered the phenom II X6 1045T from amazon. £98.

Only thing is as the board is brand new i don't think it will be flashed with the latest bios.
will i be able to flash the bios with out putting in the processor or will i need to buy ram a hard drive and a CPU that will work with out flashing the bios.

now i need to buy a graphics card i will buy NVidia any thing between £150 and £180 price mark

Ram.

New power supply

New Tower.

Ah, if you haven't been running the board and you don't have an older CPU you will probably have a problem as it will need a supported CPU to allow for BIOS flashing. Best advice would be to see if there is a local PC repair shop that can help you out. Although they will charge for the service it is often cheaper and quicker than buying a CPU just for this purpose.
