Hi
I just bought a new PC - spec below:
CPU: Intel Core i7 3820 @ 4.5Ghz
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 Water Cooler
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Motherboard: NEW! Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3
RAM: 16GB Corsair 1600mhz Vengeance (4x4GB)
Hard Drive: Corsair 60GB Force3 SSD S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
2nd hard drive: NEW! 500GB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
Optical Drive: 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1,280MB
Sound card: Onboard 7.1 Audio
PSU: NEW! 850W Corsair TX V2
I have on had it 2 days and have noticed since attempting to watch a video on YouTube that the pc was lagging - constant pauses in the video and impossible to watch.
I have done several speed tests - I have a 100meg connection. We have 2 other PC's in the house - both get around 75-95meg and the laptop gets 25-35meg. My new pc is only getting 2-3meg.
Any ideas as to why this could be happening?
All I have put into the PC since getting it is Steam, Origin, BF3 and xFire
Many thanks
Ashley

Quick update:
Just off to buy a Cat6 ethernet cable.
BIOS is F10
All motherboard drivers are latest ones
I will update shortly...............
-
£30 later and new Cat6 cable - done absolutely nothing :(
First time I have had a Gigabyte board (always used Asus) = Not Impressed!!!
Any suggestions anyone?

I would suggest removing the LAN drivers totally before re-installing them directly from the website. It is important to remove all traces of the old ones first though.

You can test if you have no Latency problem ( www.thesyscon.de )
For me with WINXP i have some 20 µs value and no big spikes
If you have test with old network driver , i have latency problem with many recent drivers

When you said Pierre's link didn't work di you mean that you have run it and you have no latency ?

Hi
The link did not work, but I got there in the end
Attached is a pic of what happened

Hi there,
there are two LED's on the LAN port one shows the speed you are getting the other shows activity (page 20 of the User's manual), what colour is the connection/speed LED?
Were you having download speed issues prior to installing other software or was it working slowly with just the OS and drivers?
-
I have a solid red and a blinking orange
I had no issues with internet speed before getting the new pc
I have only installed BF3, Steam, Origin, Windows Live Mail, Adobe, Mozilla and Xfire - which I cant really see would do anything to my connection
I did notice when installing all of the above that the downloads were taking forever - it took 4 hours to get BF3 updated
However, I only really noticed a lag issue when trying to watch YouTube and then thats when I checked my speed
Its doing my head in!!!!!!
£1,500.00 for a whole load of stress - no thanks

Have you not installed a anti-virus or security suite to keep intruders out ? If not it is possible that you have and infection but with the red light on the LAN port I suspect it is something there going wrong.
-
Am I correct in assuming you are telling me the motherboard is knackered?
Will do a virus scan now though!!
-
NO virus

There is a newer BIOS available over at TweakTown, F11b.
Although it is a beta BIOS I would try it and see if it helps. You can download it from here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/28441-gigabyte-latest-beta-bios.html

Yes absic. It's certainly worth a try.
-
Have you gone into control panel to internet options/ connections to check Lan Settings and make sure to automatically detect settings? Also you could probably run through the setup uder the connections Tab also. Worth a shot.
-

I have spoken with 4 different custom pc build companies regarding the issue I have been having.
They all tell me that there is a known fault with this board and its ability to receive a 100mb internet connection.
Following this I have returned the PC to where I bought it from - they have tested the PC and tell me they are unable to find the fault (although they only have a 6mb internet connection within their shop).
Do you think that this is fair that they cannot recreate the scenario of a 100mb connection?
I am now in limbo with no pc, an argumentative seller and a bunch of information with no real hard evidence to back anything up with.
Does anyone else know about the board not recognising a 100mb connection?

If I was you, I would go and buy a ethernet card and try that in your pc. Disable the onboard lan and see if it is indeed your onboard nic that is at fault.
