Title: Z77-D3H booting issues
Post by: potenza on May 07, 2012, 04:28:31 pm
Hello all

Mainboard will not boot after changes are made to bios, XMP profile for memory not accepted, processor multiplier up or down not accepted. All cases individualy tell "system can not boot and optimized defaults should be loaded". Even changing memory multiplyer to what the auto setting is, stops boot process.
If booted in windows with default settings, all is fine, Multiplier of processor can go to 44 whitout voltage increase.
Also sometimes no boot and when entering Bios only dual boot text at top appears, no bios settings or 3d Bios
With default options ;often system just hangs on blackscreen and after a while says drive read problem.
Bios F10 F11 and F12 same issue.

Once booted (after x restarts) in windows all is fine and joy.

Ivy Bridge 3750K
850W Antec PSU
Sapphire ATI HD6950 2GB
920 H2o Antec Cooler
8 GB Corsair vengeance 1866
S511 Adata 64GB SSD as boot disk

First time gigabyte buyer and not realy happy...

Hi and welcome.

Sorry to hear about the problems.

Make sure that you are using F12 BIOS.

From others on the forum with similar boards that have issues try what they suggest which is to manually set the speed to 100.1 and don't use XMP but manual settings and voltage. Let us know what happens.

seems to do the trick on no longuer hzving to lozd optimized defaults. However windows still didn't boot straight away (black screen and disk read failure), BUT it's a fluke or true, since I have a USB stick in the front USB2 ports, it does boot without a problem...Weird.

I'll keep testing this to rule out i's a fluke, nevertheless this should not be happening AT ALL.

Try GA-Z77-D3H - F13a (http://www.mediafire.com/?u0xv74p7s5mg382) BIOS ,maybe help.
Be sure after restart enter BIOS and apply "Optimized defaults,restart...enter BIOS again and set.

Boot issues still not solved as in the Black screen with disk read error, USB drive in port does still cause hangs. However pressing Ctrl Alt Delete at black screen, does seem to reboot fine.

Anyone have a changelog on F13a?

Well I am glad that at least you seem to be making headway even if there are still issues. Did you try both the BIOS update and the resetting of the speed ?
