Lo all.. bit of a daft one really but doing my head in. I have an Unknown device this is not picking up a driver in windows update and obviously as I do not know what is causing it cannot update manually. I have taken away all the usb adapters so there as no peripherals. With nothing attached it is still there. Am I missing something? ???

Hi
Often it will be a USB root hub or something the other thing to check for is a HD sound driver for the graphics card.

Lo matey.. as you was answering I dug out the dvd from upstairs.. you was right.. it was the USB controller.. only problem is there is no driver ont he dvd (thats what the OS is saying) and when I download it from support page it is saying there is a problem with the driver and cannot install.. I have the front plate (USB3 x2) installed and slotted into USB3_0 on the mobo.. Do you reckon the problem is something to do with that? Or wrong driver?

Yopu just beat me to it. I was going to suggest rebooting but I see that it did the trick. ;)
