Title: Normal or Silent
Post by: Purgatory on June 03, 2012, 08:56:28 am
I have a modest GA-H61M-S2PV MB
I have always preferred a quiet PC, so, should I make use of the silent setting that this board offers?
Presently this is set to normal, and CPU fan speed seems to be constant. Presumably on the silent setting the speed will vary according to CPU temp??
your thoughts and comments will be appreciated
Cheers :)

Hi

I would say that it most depends on your use of the computer. If you are only using it for internet surfing and emailing etc then why not as you are not going to notice any slight variations in power. If you use it for more CPU intensive work or games etc then it would be a better idea to invest in better quality fans or even water cooling if your system is noisy.

Thanks for your response - but think you have slightly missed the point?

I do not have a noisey PC, merely stated that I preferred quiet ones.
My post was in fact a question as to the 'silent' setting, and would this setting introduce variable CPU fan speed - as opposed to the constant speed that goes with the normal setting.
Cheers
