Title: Newly bought Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce GT 630 overheating?
Post by: cch on July 04, 2012, 12:14:39 pm
The graphic card temperature is 50°C+ while idle and it shoots up to 80°C+ while gaming( w/o overclocking). is it the hardware problem or is it normal? Before that I used GT220 and it does not go beyond 60°C even I was playing games with proper overclocking.

Hi

You cannot compare the temperatures of one card against another from a different generation especially. The 50C does seem a bit hot for idle but that may be just your environment and the fact that it is summer (well supposed to be anyway!) . Some cases are better cooled than others too. I would suggest that you have a look at your case's cooling system and see if you can do anything to make it better. I wopuldn't say that the temps for when you are gaming are too high at all.

Thanks for the advise. I already checked inside the desktop case and nothing obstruct the airflow and all the system fans are working well. I had even tried underclocking that GPU but it remain the same. I also open the case when I was going to use the computer.
