Title: 2400MHz ram on z68 with ivy cpu?
Post by: SLI-756 on July 04, 2012, 05:28:22 pm
Well i'm planning on picking up this ram here,  Patriot Viper Xtreme 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel >

You suppose my mobo will let me set the X.M.P. profile?
z68xp ud3p (using beta uefi bios)
i5 3570k

I'd be happy getting 2133 speeds from this ram  but i'll probably hold off a bit longer on the new z77 mobo if my current one can do the 2.4GHz speeds.

You may need to fiddle with timings a bit.
This thread  over at g.skill is a good read and may give you an idea of what is required.

Hi

I expect that you might get the XMP to work if you are only using two sticks but you may have to manually enter the timings and voltage if not. It shouldn't be a big deal though either way.
