Title: GA X58-UD3R Not Detecting Ethernet Cable (Drivers Installed)
Post by: mackk18 on July 08, 2012, 12:55:08 pm
Hello,

After doing a clean install of Windows 7, I downloaded the Realtek LAN Driver driver from the gigabyte website ( http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3449#ov ),as well as a multitude of others from the same site, but the computer still wont detect that an Ethernet cable is plugged in. However Device manager doesn't detect any problems, no yellow exclamation marks. I've tried restarting and leaving it a few minutes but still no luck.

I've spent all day on Google but can't find anyone that's still having problems even after installing the driver, so I decided to make a post here.
I know the cable works as I've tried with two other computers, and it worked with mine only a couple days ago before the wipe( I remember downloading the same drivers).

System Specs:
i7-930
6gb corsair 1600mhz ram
gtx 480
1tb hdd
750w psu

The bios version is "FA", as far as I know I've reset the cmos as everything was back to default in the bios. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Mack.

Hi and welcome.

Before we go any further I think it would be a good idea to make sure that we are all talking about the same motherboard. You said that it was a GA-X58-UD3R but there is no such board. I take it that what you really have is the GA-X58A-UD3R but don't know whether it is the revision 1.0 or 2.0

Neither of these motherboards appears to have a BIOS called FA though. The link you posted was for the revision 2.0 board but again no FA available.

Please clarify these details.

The second board you detailed must be the one I have then, as for the revisions I'm not sure which one. Although I have tried both versions of the LAN Realtek driver.

About the FA, this was found on the post screen in the top left corner. It was recommended by gygabyte as part of a support ticket I submitted on their website.

Thanks.

If you look on the board in the bottom corner running up the left hand side near the PCIE slots it will have the revision number in white lettering. You HAVE to know which it is.

I don't know where the FA BIOS came from as I can find no mention of it on either of the motherboard revision pages. Let me know what the revision of the board is and I will check again.

Problem solved!

After looking through 30+ pages of this forum I found a similar thread, followed the instructions in there and it has started working with rev 2 drivers.

!.I simply turnt the computer off from the power button on the psu
2.Pulled the power cable out
3.waited for the blue cmos light to go off
4.put the cable back is and booted up
Now working and detecting my Ethernet cable.

Thank you Mantis for your time and offering to help with my problem!
