Title: GA-Z77-D3H / BIOS update info.
Post by: P . P . L . on July 13, 2012, 06:57:56 am
Hi.

I'm looking to build a new system using this M/B, with a i7 3770 ivy now the cpu support page says the bios has to be at least F12

to be compatible for this cpu. I've contacted the supplier that i'm looking at buying it from & they say they can't tell what bios the boards

they have on them, and that I'd have to boot it to find out!  ::)

Now if it has an older bios say ( F10 ) on it would i be able to boot it to flash it to the newer bios with the unsupported (3770 cpu ) or not is

there that much difference in sandy & ivy, or will i be stuck.

Thanks.

When I got my GA-Z77-D3H it had something like F8 or F10 (from memory) and F11 was already out, but that was a couple of months ago now. You never know how long something has been sitting in stock.

If it doesn't boot, the worst case would be that you need to "borrow" a cpu from somewhere, or buy the cheapest compatible Pentium or Celeron to do the bios upgrade, then resell again.

Hi alex80386.

Thanks for that I wasn't sure, no problem as I ended up ordering an 2700K instead to go with this board as it was a bit cheaper & not much difference in performance.  ;D

I'm not sure that's what that page means - Mine had F10 from the start and runs an Ivy i5 without too many problems - try upgrading the bios on the other hand and it corrupts, no matter which one I pick.
