I am building two identical computers and both have the same issues:
HDD: 500GB Seagate SATA
RAM: Crucial 1333MHz DDR3
CPU: Intel G540
Mobo: rev 2.1 with latest bios standard
Clean Windows 7 install goes through fine. System reboots and Windows comes up and asks me to name the system and put in a password. Then goes through a normal reboot. The Gigabyte splash screen comes up then the screen goes black and the Gigabyte logo comes up again and this inifinitely loops. I then assembled the second set of parts and I am having the exact same issue. The system allows me to choose a boot device and boot from DVD drive but just not from my fresh Windows install. I have tried different memory but I cannot explain why I am able to go through a full Windows 7 install and then have an infinite reboot. I am almost tempted to try XP.

I suspect something is up with the board and the hard drive compatibility. The HDD is a Seagate ST500DM002SP. I have a third computer that I put a different HDD in and it is booting.
Is there a known incompatibility between the Gigabyte board and particular hard drives?

I found out what my problem is:
Windows XP installs fine, Windows 7 does not. I am not sure what to do from here.
