Howdy all Got a New board its a GA-990FXA-UD3 with a FX 8150 eight core CPU with kingston hyperx 1600 ram 4gbx2 sticks.
Operating system windows7x64 ultimate.
what i want to know is the ram or cpu compatible to run the 1600 or cpu if so how as it only shows the 1333 in the memory clock and tried the custom and put it up and saved and it came up with some error and put it back to the 1333,also is there something else im missing as i thought the FX Eight core would be heaps fast like in starting up and that but its no faster than my old 965x4 one thanks for any advice. ::)

Hi there,
to get your RAM running at 1600MHz you need to manually set the timings in the BIOS under the MIT section.
You will probably only notice the real benefit of the extra cores on your CPU when you are doing some intensive number crunching with it but a lot will depend on the actual software you are using and what you are actually trying to do. If you want to see faster start-up times and better overall system improvements then, from my own experience, I would say get an SSD for your primary drive, if you don't already have one.

Yes I would say that absic's advice is spot on. A SSD will make more of a speed boost than any other single thing you could do to the system. Changing the speed of your memory is ok but will harly be noticable.
