Title: Problem with GA-P55-UD3 and DDR3 G.Skill Ripjaws

Hello,

I have no idea to do in order to fix the problem on my new computer:

I have bluescreens when win 7 is starting.... That only happens when i boot my computer after being off some hours...
I have a GA-P55-UD3 and DDR3 G.Skill Ripjaws  (http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=225)

Does anyone know the good setting for the bios ? or is it impossible for me to use this ram?

I updated my bios from f3 to f5, but i had no change...
I checked my ram with memtest and everything was OK.

The strangest is that after 15 minutes trying to find the good settings, i have no more bluesscrennes because the computer is "warm".... ???

Hi, check your memory on this list,

Your memory is shown compatable for your motherboard by gskill link you provided,

did you  clear cmos and reset bios to default after flashing bios?

set your memory to 1.5 volts
9-9-9-24-2n
as per manufactures settings,after clearing cmos and save and reboot,

Pottypete is correct. Although you may have an XMP profile for the memory, which you can enable in the BIOS instead of setting the timings manually.

I've read reports of cold boot issue with "Round Trip Latency" (RTL) timings.

If you go to BIOS channel A Memory timings on a cold boot, note the RTL down, then restart the PC... let it warm up then restart again and note the RTL again. Has it changed? You could try setting the RTL manually to the "warm" timing and see if that helps. I really don't know, but worth a shot.

Hi,
actually my mother card is UD3 not UD3r, not very important because there is no difference for my RAM:

I am not familiar with clearing the bios, it s a bit dangerous. After clearing it, i have my old bios version f3? With f3 version the matter was the same.
So is it a good idea to take the risk?

I have already tried time settings:
CAS Latency Time ...................... 9
tRCD ....................................... 9
tRP ......................................... 9
tRAS ....................................... 24
With 1.5V.
No result, same cold boot problem.

When you say 9-9-9-24-2n what does the "2n" means ?

When my computer is "warm" my Round Trip Latency is 46 (channel A) and 48  (channel B).
I am now waiting some hours ....

Hi,
2n is the command rate,
Removing the power lead and shorting the cmos pins will not damage  your bios,
it will just clear your bios  to the default settings for the new f5 bios version you have and allow you to set them as your requirements afresh,

Hi mate i have some awful problems until i installed this paticular ram [ Ripjaws ] F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM  since then no problems at all just plug and play no need to mess about with bios , timings , etc

Thanks Pottypete, i cleared my bios and loaded optimized defaults. No result.

When my computer is cold, my Round Trip Latency is 47 (channel A) and 47  (channel B).
I changed it with 46 and 48. No result.

While windows is starting, my computer shuts down and during the next start i have a bluescreen and it shuts down again etc...

decrypter, you have a GA-P-UD3 ? Since you changed you ram, everything is ok?

if gskill says this ram is compatible with your mobo while you still have problems then it means it's a problem of ram, just rma it / change to other vendor.
save your time, mate!

"ripjaws" name is really funny :) especially that it's not working when cold, maybe needs manually warming up before boot? ;)

kingston is OK, just good basic ram which works in nearly 100 % cases

with some strange rams like "ripjaw", "gold", "dominator" etc. often can meet problems
