Title: Mismatched Motherboard Power Connector
Post by: JavaBiker on August 23, 2012, 08:55:03 pm
I have an older MB (GA-8I848P).  I have had to replace the power supply and in trying to connect it to the MB I find that the supply's 24-pin female connector is too wide to fit the MB's 24-pin male connector (Its length is fine).  The MB has 2 power connectors - a 20-pin and a 24-pin, both male.  I have tried to get an adapter that fits the PS connector (24-pin male) and has a 20-pin female on the other end to connect to the MB, without success.  Also, I cannot find an adapter that has a 24-pin male (to connect to PS cable) with a narrow 24-pin female either.
Any one know of an adapter that'll work?
Thanks... ???

Hi

I would suggest trying somewhere like Radio Shack or Tandy as I believe you have both of them in the USA. You will have to swap the cables over one at a time but that isn't difficult just time consuming.
