Hey guys, im going to update my systme soon and already i have the 1.3 version of the motherboard mentioned above, and sinbce they are basically the same i thought i'd change to the 3.1 version as i know where everything goes. However on the 3.1 version the support only goes upto the fx-4100 CPU when i want to upgrade my phenom II X3 440 to the FX-4170. does the 3.1 motherboard support this cpu or is there anotherone that does which is the same size?
Thanks for reading,
Shane

So let me see if i got it right .
You already have GM-M68MT-S2 ,but you want to change it for a version 3.1 board just because it supports FX 4170 ?!
If you already have money to buy a new mobo i advice you to get an AMD 9xx chipset based mobo that features USB 3 ,SATA 3 and high HT speeds along maximum RAM speeds for Bulldozer. In addition you will also have support for the next Bulldozer generation available this autumn.
You will practically cripple the FX 4170 into such board (GM-M68MT-S2 ) ,based on such old chipset.
That nvidia chipset is more than 4 years old ,it s absolite.
If you are talking about putting BIOS of the newer version into the older one that you have then you must know it s not possible ,you will kill it.
I recommend you a motherboard that features 4+1 power phases for Bulldozer.Your current one has only 3+1.
If you have OEM Windows license then you should be able to reactivate even changing the mobo.
