Hi the PEG is set at Auto and the onboard is set at Auto but when i plug the dvi lead into my graphics card it boots up but the screen is black it loads into windows as i can here sound , could it be the bios as i noticed the when I was in the bios it was F4 and on the Gigabyte page is says it should be F6. I did notice on the web page the latest Bios is F14 what one would be best and can i use a pen drive to update the bios and is it just the same way as updating an AMD motherboard bios.
Gigabyte Z77-UD5H Wifi.

Hi
It probably wouldn't hurt to update the BIOS to the latest version but I suspect that isn't why you're not getting an output. Have you made sure that you have connected the monitor cable to the correct port. Obviously these are goping to be different depending on which setting you are using in the BIOS. If you have the onboard graphics enabled then you will have to instal the cable to the motherboard graphics connector. If you have a discrete GPU selected then make sure that it is connected to that oulet port instead.

When you plug the monitor into the graphics card do you enable the discrete GPU first in the BIOS ? If not it will still be sending the output to the onboard port rather than the graphics card.

Hi Dark Mantis, When i plug the monitor into the graphics card it wont let me into the bios and i even tried to update the bios but it wouldn't let me, I printed of your post on how to do it and it booted into the flash utility and just stuck at the first option,I pressed enter for it to start but nothing happened, is this AMD punishing me.
-
Hi Dark Mantis I managed to update the bios to F14 by using motherboard usbbut it still the problem is still the same when i plug the DVI into the graphics card all i get is black screen and sound of windows loading in.

Hi cookiebun, I'm having a similar problem with a differnet board (http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,9704.msg73684.html (http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,9704.msg73684.html)). Just out of interest what graphics card do you have?
Some of the things I've tried might help you (see link above), but I am yet to find a solution.

Hi o0rRaven0o, I have an AMD 6970

Hi o0Raven0o, I have an AMD 6970
That is interesting because mine is a 7870, so there is potentially some common ground here. I'm investigating through some other sources as well as this forum. I'll be sure to let you know if I find anything.
-
cheers o0Raven0o I don't want to have to buy a new card yet.
-
Hi Dark Mantis I tried it in a different slot and it booted into windows with picture and sound so it would seem the top slot is faulty.
-
@cookiebun Glad you were able to discover the cause of your problem. Worth a note that the second slot is x8 and not x16, so test conditions are a bit different (see here http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4167#sp (http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4167#sp)). Can't say for sure but I'd assume that means that your graphics card would be running slower in that slot (should get someone with more knowledge to confirm that)?
Unfortunately for me I'd already tried that for my problem and no luck :'(

Hi o0Raven0o, It's time to talk RMA as the board is only a week old and I took out the extra insurance from Scan, sorry you still haven't sorted your board out yet.

I know what's the problem. I have this MB. Ran into same problem. Do not use F14 bad bios. Use F8 until they fix F13 &14. It is your windows configuration of the card, has nothing to do with the bios for this issue. However make sure the bios is set to use the card first though. That is important. You have to remove any previous drivers and configuration for any other video configuration you had previosly on widows.
If the card runs in safe mode, the card is fine. That is the test.
From there it is windows driver configuration whether if it is a ati or nvidia card.
It is very important to have your monitor dvi cable hooked up to the correct DVI port on your video card. It does matter. In windows the driver for the video card you have sets a specialized configuration for the card. Including what dvi ports are used in dos and in windows.
You see a black screen in widows that is because your driver configuration is not set up right.
In safe mode remove the drivers. Reboot, reinstall drivers in windows. Remeber what dvi port you have your monitor hooked up to.

Are you guys disabling onboard VGA in Bios first then setting to PCI? Try that and see how you go......
-
Hi Fatman yes tried that, they are both set to Auto in the bios and when i used a different slot it booted into windows with no problems.
-
I would still disable the onboard in bios and try the top slot again.
-
Hi Fatman, I have to plug into the onboard to get into the bios and I have tried disabling the onboard saving it and then closing system down and pluging into the graphics card top slot but still no display and when i am plugged into the graphics card i cannot get into the bios to do anything, card has been RMAd so i will see what happens and I am back using my AMD Gigabyte mobo with no problems.
