Title: GA-Z77x-D3H My ram works on 1333 instead of 1600

Hi all my spec is i5 3450 ,GA-Z77x-D3H and 4G of ram Kingston hiper x KHX1600C9AD3B1K2 PC 12800 .When i go in bios the memory is at 1333 on auto.
Idont know why i cant click on XMP to activate it.PLease help me what to do to run my ram at normal speed :(

if your memory doesn't support xmp, you will not select xmp to run as 1600. you may adjust your systme memory multiplier to 16.00 to check.

From what i know, many RAM manufacturers simply use 1333MHz RAM and enable clock/XMP it to 1600MHz compatible. If the RAM you bought is indeed 1600MHz then just do what ysw521 said, increase memory multiplier to match 1600MHz.

Thnak you guys for your answers.I recived an email from the teh guys from kingston and they told me to make them run to 1600 i need to change the latencies to 9-9-9-27 and adjust the voltage between 1.7V and 1.9V. I wander if i raise the voltage to 1.7Vit will be safe for the motherboard?
If i get a new ram with XMP support when iths function is activated it allso raise the voltage settings?It is any ram that work at default 1.5V with the XMP function on? Ty verry much.

Hi

The thing is that 1333 is the highest speed that is ratified by the controlling body JEDEC. Anything more than this is an overclock. Some manufacturers add a profile called XMP that is made up by Intel. This is just a way of overclocking the RAM without getting your hands dirty. It automatically fixes the timings and voltage for what is necessay to work at that speed.

Sometimes you might find there is more than one profile that is attached to your memory modules. If so you will have a choice of different speeds to overclock to.

Some manufacturers don't give you this option and so you have to adjust it all manually.

Good morning

Your memory sticks are not OC and their latency specs are 9-9-9-27.  Voltage specs of these RAMS clearly specifies that they are designed for a maximum 5.75 volts.  Their programmable CAS Write Latency is based on 1333 Mz.  Beware, setting latency manually will affect the whole system through your CPU and can dramaticaly downgrade the system processing as the CPU will have to deal with a pair of latencies conversion.  Setting voltage manualy without a very good knowledge could easily fry your RAM and motherboard all together.

Please refer to http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX1600C9AD3B1K2_4G.pdf for more details.  You should have used the KHX1600C9D3K2/8G (2x4) model instead.  ;)
