Title: Problem with GA-970A-DS3 and 1600Mhz RAM
Post by: juadaro on October 13, 2012, 12:00:21 am
Hi, I have a problem with my GA-970A-DS3 (BIOS version F4). I have two Kingston KHX1600C9D3/4GX modules running in dual channel. But the BIOS detect 1333Mhz. I don't know how I can enable 1600Mhz option in the BIOS. I tried to enable but after restart the BIOS detect an error with the overclock configuration.

What can I do?

Thanks  ;)

Make sure you set voltage at 1.65 in bios and then set timings manually 9-9-9-24.
If you dont know what timings to change then download cpuz and run it it will tell you. ALSO  make sure it is running in un-ganged mode that is important.

Welcome to the gigabyte forums. If you are still having trouble after that post in kingstons forum as it is there memory they might have a trick to it but the above always works for me.

If the CPU is a  Phenom 2 yes un-ganged should be used ,but otherwise ,in a Bulldozer CPU scenario ,running RAM in Ganged could be better if the RAM is strange.Performance wise in a Bulldozer usage  scenario the gap is under 1% ,compared to un-ganged but with more compatibility to mixed/unmatched ram.Benchmarked the crap out of this scenario.

So juadaro for Bulldozer use Ganged to reach maximum speed.

colonelc4,
A good thing when you post is to tell us the CPU you are using and what ram also it doesnt hurt to add in PSU and what operating system the more info you give us the more help we can give. Also if you have tried setting it manualy  as per timings and voltage let us know what you have tried. Just remember MORE INFO MORE HELP

try this
DRAM E.O.C.P
Allows you to determine whether to use the preset memory overclocking profile to achieve optimum
overclocking performance. (Default: Disabled) ENABLE THIS!!!! and set it has ddr1600

Set Memory Clock
Determines whether to manually set the memory clock. Auto lets BIOS automatically set the memory clock
as required. Manual allows the memory clock control item below to be configurable. (Default: Auto) SET HIS TO MANUAL!!!!

DDR3 Timing Items
&
Manual
allows all DDR3 Timing items below to be configurable)set this to manual and leave it has it is
