Title: How do I update my BIOS?
Post by: UndeadKieran on October 14, 2012, 06:16:40 pm
Hello,

I bought a PC back in March with a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P (I don't know the revision or BIOS version, before you ask, and I'm not opening my PC...) I bought Borderlands 2 yesterday, for a very very good 50% discount, but it doesn't work, it just BSODs on me when I press play.

I looked up this problem and people have said that it is a matter of simply updating your BIOS and there's your problem solved. OK, fair enough, but oh, how the hell do you do that?

I downloaded @BIOS to see if I could update through that, I click on setup.exe and get this: http://gyazo.com/8b11e8e0ae75dcf55a971adaefa89b8d , oh dear, I'm clueless...

OK next up, I tried downloading some files from Gigabyte for my MOBO, got these files: http://gyazo.com/25fb65f3486065967d87a0b094bd43b6 , but when I click on them they just say they're incompatible with my x64ness.

So, how the hell do I update? Step by step please?

Additional deets:
AMD FX4100 4.0GHZ
8GB 1333MHZ RAM
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P (Unknown BIOS version or Board Revision)
ATI Radeon 6770 1GB

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Look on the motherboard at the bottom left hand side near the PCIE slots for the revision number. It will be printed in white and will be in the format of REV:1.0 for example. This is important because sometimes there are multiple revisions of the same model of motherboard.

With this information you can then enter the board number into the search box on this page :

http://uk.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/download-center.aspx?kw=GA-81845GV-C

and then choose the correct revision number from the list that is given.
