Title: Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L and SSD
Post by: maksim.cro on October 15, 2012, 02:27:06 pm
Greeting
I have the following motherboard

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2615#ov

and I want to buy a SSD. I saw on the internet that some people have problems with older motherboards, I plan to buy OCZ VERTEX 4 128GB or Intel 330 180 GB, which ssd recommend to be compatible with my motherboard?

Thanks

Hi and welcome.

Out of the two you have mentioned I would go with the Intel every time. Hopwever there are other drives that I would pick rather than either to be honest. If you can get it the Samsung 830 is a really fast good drive. It is SATA3 6GB/s which even if you can't make full use of it now it is backwards compatible.

The Crucial M4 is another good drive. It all depends on what is available in your area though. Personally I would steer clear of the OCZ drives especially in your case as they often have issues with the firmware and if you have any doubts already you don't need to introduce any more.
