Title: GA-MA770-DS3 - UPO meaning in RMA description
Post by: profquatermass on December 21, 2009, 06:26:48 pm
Looks like my GA-MA770-DS3 v1.0 board has came up with a fault when I returned it to Gigabyte.

The engineer reported "UPOPCB Line Open". Can someone at Gigabyte give a little more detail, I'm a electronics engineer so a little curious. Would this stop the PC booting up?

Hi

U=User P=PCB O=Open, so it means that PCB line has been damaged by user. In most cases it is done during CPU fan assembly. The results of such failure can be very different depending which exact line has been damaged, but they include no boot up also of course.

Merry Xmas

Interesting.

It worked for a year after I installed it in the case. Then it started freezing on me over 2 months until it finally died.

I guess it was a intermittent crack in the track.

The heatsink is a 1KG job!

Nice one guys!
