Title: i need a better CPU cooler.. , high P95 score, and it crashes in games
Post by: passnthru2 on February 14, 2013, 10:59:58 pm
does anyone have any ideas which CPU Coolers are suited bettrt for my board?

I have a  Ga-Z77x-ud5-th with an Intel i5 3750K, not only is my heat sink too weak, but it covers  the #1 RAM slot..  my ram is Corsair Dominator DDR3 2000   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145330

I looking at a  "Downdraft"  Noctua NH-C12P SE14 140mm SSO CPU Cooler   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608019

it looks like it has better room for the Ram, you can take off top heat sink  of Dominator RAM, I also read you can turn the this heat sink  and clear the RAM.  I am not so concerned that as I am about the Cooler working well with my CPU

thanks

First of all check your motherboard on this list here: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_gen&products_id=35&lng=en

As for memory, check here, but I think you will be fine: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_ram_gen&products_id=34&lng=en

Still not happy? Then check this link as it has the measurements of the cooler: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=faqs&step=2&products_id=35&lng=en#8

Personally, Im using the NH-D14 on my 970BE at stock and I havent regretted getting it.

As for the ULNA and LNA cables that come with the cooler; I wouldnt use them. Im running mine at full speed (both fans connected directly to motherboard headers and both are running at approx 1200rpm) and the fan noise is not even noticeable.

Hope this helps
