Title: Power connectors on GA-MA785 MB

Apologies for this cross-post - I'm new here and not sure how the "Child" form thing works.

My power supply has a 12x2 power connector which fits into the 12x2 power socket.  The MB also has a 2x4 power connector (but my power supply has no 2x4 cable).
Is it necessary to supply power to BOTH the 12x2 AND 2x4 MB connectors?
