Title: GA-970A-D3 Issues....
Post by: liamarmitage on March 19, 2013, 03:17:58 pm
Hi guys, I have some a very frustrating issue with my new build and I need some help. Basically after 15 mins of running, it freezes and no key/mouse/network functions work and a hard reset is required to get it out of that state. This happens under Windows 7 64bit and also ESXi 5.1. I'm leaning towards the issue being related to Bios settings but not sure what settings to use

My setup is

GA-970A-D3 - Bios currently F11 but was going to update to F12c to see if it helped???
AMD FX 8350 (AM3+) 8 Core
Corsair 32GB Vengeance (4x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz
950W ATX Modular PSU
2 x 2TB Samsung HDD

I have tested with all default/optimized settings but nothing seems to work.
Can anyone offer any assistance?
Thanks

Hi just to add also I have ran memtest86 and get errors on test 2 and 6. I've read some sites which say that if bios is left to auto sometimes the settings are incorrect. I have the following memory installed but not sure on the settings required

Your board DOES NOT SUPPORT the CPU.

Get a different board before you see smoke or fire.

Revisions 1.4 and 3.0 support the FX 8350.Go for a UD3 board.

Hi Vezena, thank you for your reply. I have sent the board back and asked for a replacement. Didn't even think to check as it was bought as a bundle and presumed all would be compatible.

I'm hoping I will have no further problems

Thanks again
