Title: New 7950 not working with motherboard
Post by: Ramenator on April 03, 2013, 09:00:25 pm
Hey, posting this for a friend.

He just picked up a Gigabyte 7950 (GV-R795WF3-3GD) and it is not working with his motherboard, an Intel DX58SO.

- The video card does work in another machine.
- His machine has a more-than-capable PSU
- When you turn it on, it powers up but nothing on screen.
- No built-in graphics output to see what's happening

After some searching, we came across a similar issue that an MSI video card had with the same motherboard. The end result was a patched GPU BIOS to fix his compatibility issues. http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165057.0

Any help and feedback is appreciated.

What's your power supply? if it's a true rated 450w PSU, it should RUN. I had similar problems with intel motherboards...
anyway, did you clear the CMOS? if you had been using a previous video card in that motherboard, it would still be seeking for the old configuration.
To clear CMOS, you can use the CMOS jumper or simply remove the battery for a few seconds then place it back again.
