Hello,
I have Gigabyte GA-870-A UD3 rev. 3.1 with the newest BIOS.
My problem is all SSD disks i could test seems to work at SATA2 speed not SATA3. In all benchmark they are stuck at the border of 3 Gbps/s (375MB/s).
Here is the sample screenshot.
I tried connecting only this SSD to PC and test then - nothing. Firmware of all tested disks (Plextor 128M5S and Intel 830 64GB) is the latest one.
Im on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
FX-6200
16GB RAM
Polish support told me to RMA the board (i need pc for work and i have no time to take it apart).
I triet IDE/RAID/AHCI modes - no difference. Drivers are the latest.
Any ideas? I tried everything... I suspect driver to be buggy.
Whats interesting both SSD works at following modes:
PLEXTOR PX-128M5S 128GB - ATA8-ACS | ATA/ATAPI-7 T13 1532D version 4a
SAMSUNG SSD 830 Series 64GB ACS2 | ACS-2 Revision 2
I could not find any information about this standards.
AMD Ahci controller driver version is 1.2.1.331
Please help me make the disks work as on SATA3 ports. And yes i connected them to SATA3 ports on the board.
Any help/ideas will be appreciated. Thank You.

Bad to see the AHCI controllers under performing on version 3.1 like on version 1.0 of the board (which i have finally sold)
First of all avoid connecting the HDD-s to ports 4 and 5 the last 2 from the upper part.
Connect them to the lower 4 ones.
Those 2 are slower and intended for optical.
The speeds are indeed SATA 2 speeds like i ve seen myself with some HDD-s even on the "correct" SATA ports.
Talk with Gigabyte support on the issue ,most probable incompatibilities.
The BIOS support is not great , it s a hit and miss with this board.

Thanks for info.
Unfortunately polish support wants me to just RMA the board through the seller. It takses a LOT of time and i cant afford not having pc for so long. I would have to buy new board. I could if they guarantee me i will get me money back but according to the rma terms i guess they only would have to replace it or fix it so no way..
The SSDs were tested at SATA3_0 , SATA3_a and SATA3_4 as well. No luck.
Really disappointing that Gigabyte treats users like that.

I have no idea why my 890GPA -UD3 beats the hell out of the 970A-UD3 on the on-board SATA department too as it s the same southbridge :)
I have bought the 970A-UD3 to move to FX CPU-s smooth, but when to sell the older board i came to the conclusion it would be a waste ,waited almost one year for BIOS fixes and i have simply gave up. :)
On the other hand FM2 boards don t have issues it seems in the storage area.
RMA it maybe you get a proper one.
