Title: GA-H61MA-D2V Hangs after POST
Post by: tricky1962 on May 28, 2013, 05:25:56 pm
Hi

I hope someone can help here.

I have never been able to get into the BIOS, pushing del just means it hangs after one short POST beep.  Not a problem until now.  I have installed a new graphics card, which went fine, several reboots later and everything looks good, but I noticed that the card was sharing some of my RAM.  I don't need the extra video memory, but cant get into BIOS to correct the problem.  I updated the BIOS but this made no difference (again carried out several reboots to check), so I cleared the CMOS.  Now on boot I get a single beep, a quick flash of the BIOS splash screen then I get a large cursor on a black screen which doesn't move and nothing more.  Hitting del doesn't help -

I have tried clearing the CMOS several times but nothing changes.  Is it time for a new motherboard?

Hi tricky1962,

If you are not in a situation with hardware RAID...

Have you tried doing the BIOS, Load Optimize Defaults ?

Hi

I can't get that far!. Tapping del during POST leaves me with a black screen and an unresponsive cursor arrow

I think this chap has the same problem albeit with a USB keyboard

No I hadn't read that topic, but that sounds to me like backing up the main bios - I think I have a problem with the main one, so access to the backup might be more helpful

Thanks for the attention, but I updated the BIOS without problem.  My problem appeared when I tried to clear the CMOS.

I have now purchased a new MB - same model - and still can't access BIOS (with my PS2 keyboard!) :)

Hi again,

What is your method for Clear CMOS?
Have you check in manual?
Have you check in FAQ on the Forum?

To clear the CMOS, I removed the mains cable, shorted the two pins and also left the battery out for two hours - somewhere here caused the problem.

Yes I checked the manual - it's not very clear on how the backup bios is supposed to work, but it clearly didn't anyway and yes I checked the FAQs.  Nothing there seemed to apply to my situation

Hi again,

IF keyboard PS/2 are not functionnel...

And the keyboard is plugged to USB2... ? Have you retry it...?
Because do not use USB3.... (normaly is not functionnel... but maybe try it, if other posibility are not good)

The Del key , to go Bios ... is ok or not functionnel...?
When the splash Logo page for BIOS appear...

The keyboard is a PS2, not USB.  It is functional - the del key works normally.  No I have not tried a PS2/USB connection -  can't see why that would be of benefit

Tapping the del key does NOT take me to BIOS, just this black screen with the static white cursor arrow

The splash sometimes appears for a fraction of a second followed by the black screen

This is very short short time...

Have you tried, to push DEL key, before splash Logo disappear?

Must be prepared to react quickly...

Note:
Now you have one or two GA-H61MA-D2V ?

Hi again,

When the lights on the keyboard are blink.
Like on the Num Lock, Caps Lock, NOW press the DEL key.
Press DEL ... sometimes several times

Hi NLW

Unfortunately I don't have another keyboard, so have to work with the one I've got

I don't hold down the del key but tap it constantly

I tried to boot removing everything bar keyboard and PSU but get an error for no RAM otherwise same result

I now have a new mobo - same type -  and still can not access BIOS
